Homeroom Teacher: Mrs. Johnna Malici

I grew up in a small town outside of Kansas City, but have called Greenville home since 2005. I have a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Political Science, and I received my teaching certification training at Furman University. In 2007-2008, I taught sixth grade Social Studies at Norwest Middle School. I began teaching at As-Sabeel Academy in 2010 and in 2011 I became the Principal. Insh’Allah, I’m sure that I will be learning a lot from the students again this year.
As a teacher, it is always my goal to assist students in developing a love for learning. However, the teacher is not the sole guide in the classroom. I strongly believe that giving students an active role in the learning process will lead them to be more engaged in their own education. I welcome communication from parents, and I will do my best to regularly share information with you about your child’s progress.
I have two young children, a daughter (Aylin) and a son (Selim), both of whom are As-Sabeel students. During my spare time, I enjoy reading and learning about Islam, visiting with friends, and doing things outdoors.
