Ramadan Mubarak!

RamadanMubarak

Assalaamu alaikum,

On behalf of As-Sabeel Academy, I would like to wish everyone a blessed month this Ramadan.  May Allah accept your prayers, supplications, and acts of charity.  I also wanted to make a few announcements for this month…

1.  Our first day of school this year will be on Tuesday, September 7th, insha’AllahRegistration for K4 through 3rd Grade is still open to anyone interested in enrolling their children until then.  However, because of the strong enrollment response we have gotten this year, we have started a wait list for preschool (k4) enrollment.

2.  Alhamdulillah, our school has achieved remarkable growth over the past two years.  This growth requires significant financial support to help us purchase books, hire new teachers, and acquire the necessary tools to help our students excel.  This Ramadan, we urge you to help us.  The school is starting this year in a slight debt and is urgently in need of financial contributions to remain in operation this year.  Many of our students (about 12 out of our 35) come from families who are unable to afford our full tuition, and need zakat contributors to help cover a portion of their tuition.

Please join us on Saturday, August 28th, for As-Sabeel Academy’s fundraising iftar at the ISG Masjid .  Please come and bring your families to enjoy our catered iftar (8:00pm), while we inform you of our school’s latest achievements.  Fundraising will be held between iftar and Isha prayers.  If you are unable to come to the iftar, please remember that you can always donate online at our website.  You are also encouraged to donate any items from our school wishlist if you are able.

3.  We will also be hosting a Ramadan poetry competition open to all children ages 5 through 18. Detailed rules will be emailed and posted on our website in a few days.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at info@sabeelacademy.com or call us at 864-735-7225.

Jazakum Allah khair,

As-Sabeel Academy Earns Accreditation

We are happy to announce that As-Sabeel Academy is now fully accredited by the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA), based on the recommendation of the accreditation team that visited our school this last Friday. Alhamdulillah, this is a very special milestone that As-Sabeel Academy has achieved in only its second year of operation.

Being accredited through SCISA means that graduates of As-Sabeel Academy are able to easily transition to other schools in the state, without having to take a placement examination.  Accreditation also demonstrates the achievements that the faculty and volunteers of As-Sabeel Academy have made in the school’s safety, planning, organization, and academics.

It is our hope that accreditation will help assure any parents hesitant about enrolling their children in As-Sabeel Academy that the school is set on a solid foundation and is here to stay for the long-term, insha’Allah.

It is also worth noting that As-Sabeel Academy is currently the only Islamic school with South Carolina accreditation.

As-Sabeel Welcomes SCISA Accreditation Team

As part of our accreditation process that we have been working on since the inception of As-Sabeel Academy, a team representing the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) will visit our school on Friday, March 26, 2010.  On behalf of the school and the Muslim community of Greenville, we welcome them to our Islamic Center and school.

SCISA is the major accrediting agency in the state of South Carolina and is responsible for the accreditation of over 100 private schools in the state.

The accreditation process provides an assurance of quality to the public and provides greater recognition and support for our school and its programs.  In addition, being a member of SCISA provides our school with a variety of resources and access to services including professional development and state-wide educational programs.

This will be SCISA’s first visit to our school since As-Sabeel Academy became a member school at the beginning of the year.  The results of their review will determine whether or not we are recommended for accreditation over the summer.  Both the school’s own self-study and the report of the visiting team will form the basis for the final SCISA decision on our school’s accreditation status.

For more information on SCISA and their accreditation process, you are welcome to visit their website at www.scisa.org.
