Assalamu Alaykum. My name is Johnna Malici, and I am teaching third grade during the 2010-2011 school year. This is my first year teaching at As-Sabeel, and I am very excited to be here!
I grew up in a small town outside of Kansas City, and I have lived in Greenville for five years. I have a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Political Science, and I received my teaching certification training at Furman University. In 2007-2008, I taught sixth grade Social Studies at Norwest Middle School. This is my first time teaching third grade, and I am very much enjoying working with this group of students. Inshallah, I will learn a lot from them.
As a teacher, it is always my goal to assist students in developing a love for learning. However, the teacher is not the sole guide in the classroom. I strongly believe that giving students an active role in the learning process will lead them to be more engaged in their own education. I welcome communication from parents, and I will do my best to regularly share information with you about your child’s progress.
I have been married for seven years and have two young children, a daughter (Aylin) and a son (Selim). During my spare time, I enjoy reading and learning about Islam, visiting with friends, and cooking.
