Clubs & Activities

As-Sabeel offers a number of clubs and activities to:

  • Enhance its Curriculum
  • Encourage Leadership
  • Serve Our Student Body

Book Club

Book Club meets every other week after school. There is an Elementary Book Club for students in 3rd – 5th grades, and a Middle School Book Club for 6th – 8th graders.  Students read books selected from a list and meet to discuss the books. Book Club participants go on to compete in SCISA’s “Battle of the Books.”  In 2019, our Middle School Book Club qualified and won the SCISA State Battle of the Books competition.

National Jr. Beta Club

National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. It was established to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among secondary school students. At As-Sabeel, we are proud to be a part of the junior division for grades 6-8. Last year, our exemplary students totaled over 400 service hours helping their school and community.

Science Fair

Each Spring, As-Sabeel holds a school Science Fair for students in 3rd – 8th grades. Over the course of several weeks, students work on original science projects that may include experiments or inventions. Students present their work to a panel of judges and have the opportunity to win medals. Seven students are selected to represent As-Sabeel at the SCISA State Science Fair held in April, where their projects are again judged and trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. In 2019, As-Sabeel students won “Best Overall” in both the Elementary and Middle School Divisions at the SCISA State Science Fair.

Spelling Bee

Each November, students in 2nd – 8th grades have the opportunity to compete in class spelling bees. The top two finalists receive medals and certificates. The two finalists from 3rd grade and above go on to compete in the SCISA Regional Spelling Bee in January, where they test their spelling knowledge against students from other private schools in the region. Students who place in the top two at Regionals go on to compete in the SCISA State Spelling Bee.

Student Council

Student Council members are elected by As-Sabeel students and seek to serve the school community by planning social events, fundraising for specific school needs, and implementing programs to benefit As-Sabeel Academy. As-Sabeel’s Student Council has organized Movie Nights, Field Day, Food Drives, and raised funds for a new swing set and see-saws for the playground area. Elections for student council are held each fall.

Tajweed Club

In Tajweed Club, students work to improve their Quran reading and recitation. Students meet after school weekly.

Bricks4Kidz

New in 2019, Bricks4Kidz is an after-school STEM enrichment program where kids explore academic concepts while building with Legos.  As-Sabeel Academy partners with Bricks4Kidz to offer 8 week classes at our school facilty.  Classes are one hour long and offered after school.  Classes change so that students in different grades have the opportunity to participate.

Math Meet Team

Middle schoolers who are top-notch math students are invited to participate on our Math Meet Team.  They meet once a week before school to practice their problem solving skills and prepare for the SCISA State Math Meet Competition.
